2015 Review
During 2015 AfricanPostmark attended various events celebrating Africa and the diaspora in London. Take a look back with us at some of these events.
15th Annual Eritrean UK Festival 2015
The Annual British Eritrean Festival 2015 was held this year on July 27th in London. The festival’s theme for 2015 was “Development through Resilience” and was an opportunity to showcase Eritrea’s Socio – Economic, Cultural & Traditional values.
Thousands attended the festival travelling from all around the UK. The festival programme included seminars, children’s activities, family & community activities, arts & culture program, youth forums & ideas, and a sports competition. The day ended with performances from top Eritrean artists who had the crowd on their feet in a colourful show of patritorism. View Gallery
Africa Fashion Weekend London 2015
August in London was supposed to be the height of summer with warm weather, lighter days but I think this year the sunshine didn’t get rsvp and was sadly missing for Londoners.
Much to our delight the Africa Fashion Weekend brought Londoners alive. Held over two days Londoners had the pleasure of welcoming some of the best African designers to the City. The event now in its 4th year kicked off with the launch of the face of Africa Fashion Week, won by Maggie Smith. With over 40 designers from Africa and diaspora showcasing their work. View Gallery
Africa Centre Festival London
This year’s Africa Centre Festival in the heart of London, brought together artists like Asa and Fuse ODG. The crowds were out in huge numbers and joining African musicians were designers who put on a spectacular fashion show and visitors also had the opportunity to buy African designed and inspired arts and crafts.
